NūrNetics is a thoughtfully built, UK-focused madrasah platform with a clear point of view: AI should do the heavy lifting on admin, from term reports to leadership briefings. Labbaik takes a different angle — we use AI too, but treat it as a quiet utility rather than the headline feature, delivered through WhatsApp rather than a new tool to learn. Both are credible UK options; they suit different committees.
Where NūrNetics shines
NūrNetics has invested real effort in safeguarding and compliance — generated DPA/DPIA packs, row-level security, audit trails and tiered access controls are a genuine strength. Its Islamic Knowledge Passport, tracking surahs and duas through graduation, is a thoughtful addition. Its ZAID assistant is a capable tool for a coordinator comfortable directing an AI to draft reports and summarise data, and can save real time for a tech-savvy teacher or admin.
AI: a fit for some committees more than others
Most maktabs and madrasahs are run by a committee of volunteers rather than a full-time IT-literate admin. NūrNetics' product is positioned heavily around AI — generation credits, prompts and a named assistant sit at the centre of how it's presented. That suits a school with someone who wants to get hands-on with an AI tool directly. It asks more of a board that would rather the system work without a new concept to explain at committee meetings.
Labbaik uses a comparable class of AI (Claude, from Anthropic), but positions it differently. Our AI assistant runs inside WhatsApp — the app admins, teachers and parents already use — answering questions about timings, fees and registration, and helping staff draft the odd message or report when asked. There's no separate credit system to size a subscription tier around; it's included as part of the platform.
More than a maktab or madrasah tool
NūrNetics is scoped to madrasah administration and its ZAID AI assistant. Labbaik covers the same ground, then extends further: donation campaigns, community events and bookings, and verifiable Nikah, Shahada and ijazah certificates — useful whether you're a mosque-run maktab or a standalone madrasah with its own community programmes.
| Masjid & madrasah tools | Labbaik | NūrNetics |
|---|---|---|
| Sadaqah & Zakat donations | One-tap giving, campaigns, recurring donations, full reporting | Not part of the platform |
| Community events | Publish, sell tickets, take RSVPs, manage capacity | Not part of the platform |
| Bookings & class capacity | Included for events and non-educational classes | Not part of the platform |
| Nikah & Shahada certificates | Verifiable, institution-branded | Not part of the platform |
| Non-educational community classes | Same registration & payment tools as the maktab | Not part of the platform |
| One login, one bill | Yes — same platform | Maktab/madrasah admin only |
Committee admin: compliance tasks that can't be missed
Running a masjid or madrasah isn't just the maktab register. Committees also carry a stream of dates that are easy to lose track of in a spreadsheet or someone's inbox: utility and insurance renewals, scheduled maintenance and annual servicing, Charity Commission report deadlines, safeguarding and DBS renewals, fire safety checks, and more.
NūrNetics has invested real effort in safeguarding and compliance documentation — generated DPA/DPIA packs, audit trails and tiered access controls. What we found no evidence of is a recurring-task layer that proactively reminds a committee about operational deadlines like these. Labbaik lets committees set these up as recurring administrative tasks with an owner and a due date, then sends WhatsApp alerts as renewals approach and if the most important deadlines go overdue.
Kitab-level Alimiyyah tracking
NūrNetics tracks sabak, dhor and para with quarterly tajweed grading, but we found no publicly documented support for structured Alimiyyah or year-group kitab tracking.
Labbaik lets institutions running Alimiyyah or other Islamic studies programmes upload their own PDF syllabus — Bahishti Zewar, Zad ut-Talibeen, Mishkat, Hidayah, whatever the curriculum requires — and automatically breaks it into trackable sections. Teachers log progress kitab by kitab, section by section, page by page, and that progress is reflected live in the student and parent portal.
| Alimiyyah & Islamic studies | Labbaik | NūrNetics |
|---|---|---|
| Alimiyyah / year-group tracking | Included, standard | Not publicly documented |
| Custom syllabus import | Upload your own PDF — auto-split into sections | Not offered |
| Kitab tracking granularity | Kitab → section → page | Sabak/dhor/para with quarterly tajweed grading (Hifz-style) |
| Pre-loaded kitab library | Bahishti Zewar, Zad ut-Talibeen, Mishkat, Hidayah & more, or add your own | Not offered |
| Non-Hifz Islamic classes (Tajweed, Tafsir, Fiqh, Arabic, etc.) | Any class type, same tracking tools | Maktab-focused |
| Parent/student visibility of kitab progress | Live in the portal as teachers log it | Not publicly documented |
| Alimah/Aalim completion certificates | Verifiable, institution-branded, print-ready | Not offered |
Where Labbaik wins
- Free to start, with no student cap — Safar has no monthly fee, no onboarding charge and no card required, whether you have 20 students or 2,000.
- AI where people already are — a WhatsApp assistant, not a new dashboard or a credit meter to watch.
- Payroll included — HMRC-compatible PAYE, NI, pensions and P45/P60, calculated automatically for every member of staff, on any plan.
- Pay only when you collect — Labbaik's platform fee applies to Stripe card payments only, from 1.5% and falling as collections grow, instead of a flat monthly bill regardless of usage.
- UK GDPR & ICO registered — registered ICO number ZC136003, with EU data residency.
- Kitab-level Alimiyyah tracking — upload your own PDF syllabus and Labbaik breaks it into sections; teachers track progress page by page, visible live in the parent/student portal.
- Genuinely serves the whole masjid or madrasah — Sadaqah/Zakat donations, ticketed community events, bookings and verifiable Nikah/Shahada certificates alongside the education side.
- Compliance task reminders, not just documentation — recurring admin tasks (insurance/utility renewals, servicing, DBS, fire safety, Charity Commission deadlines) with WhatsApp alerts before they're overdue.
- Online classes with OAuth-connected Zoom, Drive & Dropbox — start a live class on Zoom and Labbaik automatically alerts enrolled students by WhatsApp and email the moment it begins, with attendance marked present automatically when they join from the portal. Recordings publish from your own Google Drive or Dropbox for catch-up, and Labbaik only ever sees the specific files you publish, never your whole Drive or Dropbox.
Which should you pick?
Choose NūrNetics if your school has someone comfortable directing an AI assistant day to day, and you value its safeguarding and compliance-documentation depth.
Choose Labbaik if your committee is mostly non-technical volunteers and you want AI to help quietly in the background — through WhatsApp, not a new tool to learn — alongside a free plan, built-in payroll and fee collection that only costs you when it's working.
Frequently asked questions
Is NūrNetics better than Labbaik?
It depends on your committee. NūrNetics is a strong choice if you have someone comfortable directing an AI assistant day to day and you value its safeguarding/compliance-documentation depth. Labbaik suits a mostly non-technical committee better — the same class of AI, delivered through WhatsApp instead of a dedicated assistant to learn, plus a free plan and built-in payroll NūrNetics doesn't offer.
Does NūrNetics support Hifz tracking?
Yes — sabak, dhor and para tracking plus quarterly tajweed grading. Labbaik covers Sabaq, Sabqi and Manzil tracking built for UK maktab routines.
Does Labbaik include payroll?
Yes. Labbaik runs HMRC-compatible UK payroll on every plan — PAYE, National Insurance, pension and student loan deductions calculated automatically, with payslips and P45/P60 generation included. NūrNetics doesn't currently offer a payroll module.
Which is better for a small UK madrasah?
Generally Labbaik — a free plan with no student cap, no onboarding fee, and no new AI concept to explain at a committee meeting. NūrNetics' paid tiers and £50 onboarding fee are a bigger ask for a school just starting out.
Can I migrate from NūrNetics to Labbaik?
Yes. Student, class and fee records can be imported from a CSV export, and our team can help with a guided migration — get in touch and we'll walk you through it.
Does NūrNetics have masjid tools like donations or events?
No — NūrNetics is scoped to madrasah administration and its ZAID AI assistant. Labbaik covers the same ground, then adds donation campaigns, community events and certificates in the same system.
Does NūrNetics support Alimiyyah or kitab-level tracking?
NūrNetics tracks sabak, dhor and para with quarterly tajweed grading, but we found no publicly documented support for structured Alimiyyah or year-group kitab tracking. Labbaik lets institutions upload their own PDF syllabus, automatically breaks it into sections, and lets teachers track progress kitab by kitab and page by page, visible live in the parent/student portal.
Does NūrNetics remind committees about compliance deadlines like DBS or Charity Commission reports?
NūrNetics generates safeguarding and compliance documentation (DPA/DPIA packs, audit trails), but we found no recurring-task layer that proactively reminds a committee about operational deadlines. Committees can set up recurring administrative tasks in Labbaik — utility and insurance renewals, scheduled maintenance and annual servicing, Charity Commission report deadlines, safeguarding and DBS renewals, fire safety checks and more — with WhatsApp alerts as renewals approach and if deadlines go overdue.
Does NūrNetics support online classes with Zoom and cloud recordings?
Not publicly documented — as far as we could find, NūrNetics doesn't offer this. Labbaik connects your own Zoom account by OAuth to run live online classes, automatically alerts enrolled students by WhatsApp and email when a session starts, marks attendance automatically the moment they join from the student/parent portal, and lets you publish recordings from your own Google Drive or Dropbox so students can catch up on missed sessions. Labbaik only ever sees the specific files you choose to publish — never your whole Drive or Dropbox account.
Is NūrNetics' parent portal mobile-first?
NūrNetics' parent portal is browser-based and explicitly doesn't require an app. Labbaik's parent portal installs to the home screen as a PWA, and teachers log attendance and Hifz progress from their phone during the lesson itself.

Labbaik isn't only maktab and madrasah software — the same platform also runs donations, community certificates, events and non-educational classes, so a masjid can run its whole community on one system.
