Raziil is one of the longer-established names in UK madrasah software, with masjids running it in cities including Luton, Edinburgh and Manchester. Labbaik is a newer, design-led alternative built around a modern parent experience, transparent pricing, and full WhatsApp integration so messages land where families actually read them. Both are credible UK options — they suit different schools.

Where Raziil shines

Raziil has a meaningful track record across UK institutions and bundles a public masjid subdomain site for schools without their own web presence. For committees that value a long operating history and a familiar admin-first workflow, it remains a credible choice.

Labbaik covers the same ground in a different way. Schools without a website get a hosted public educational page out of the box (class times, registration form, parent portal link, announcements). Schools that already have a site can drop in our embeddable SDK to surface the same card on their own pages, or use the public API to post live student counts, announcements with images and add-to-calendar links directly into whatever CMS they run.

Desktop-era vs phone-first

Raziil's product is primarily designed around an admin sitting at a desktop. That model works well for office-based administrators, but the people who use a maktab platform most often aren't at a desk. Parents check attendance on the school run, pay fees from the sofa and read alerts on the move. Teachers in a typical maktab sit on the floor with the students — phone in one hand, Qur'an in the other — taking the register and logging Hifz progress as it happens.

Labbaik is designed phone-first for both audiences. The parent portal is a PWA, fee payments are one tap in Stripe, and teachers mark attendance and Hifz sabaq/sabqi/manzil directly from their phone — alongside the class, not behind a laptop.

It's a fair, direct look at where the interface sits today, and it's the image Raziil itself chose to show the product in action.

More than a maktab or madrasah tool

Beyond its bundled masjid subdomain website, Raziil doesn't publish donation campaigns, event bookings or certificate features — it's scoped to maktab and madrasah administration like most platforms in this category. Labbaik covers the same maktab ground, then extends to the wider masjid in the same system: donation campaigns, community events and bookings, verifiable Nikah, Shahada and ijazah certificates, and non-educational classes.

Committee admin: compliance tasks that can't be missed

Running a masjid or madrasah isn't just the maktab register. Committees also carry a stream of dates that are easy to lose track of in a spreadsheet or someone's inbox: utility and insurance renewals, scheduled maintenance and annual servicing, Charity Commission report deadlines, safeguarding and DBS renewals, fire safety checks, and more.

Labbaik lets committees set these up as recurring administrative tasks with an owner and a due date, then sends WhatsApp alerts as renewals approach and if the most important deadlines go overdue — so nothing safety- or compliance-critical slips through because an email got buried. We found no equivalent task or compliance-reminder tooling in Raziil.

Kitab-level Alimiyyah tracking

Raziil publishes a Hifz diary with revisions, but we found no publicly documented support for structured Alimiyyah or year-group kitab tracking.

Labbaik lets institutions running Alimiyyah or other Islamic studies programmes upload their own PDF syllabus — Bahishti Zewar, Zad ut-Talibeen, Mishkat, Hidayah, whatever the curriculum requires — and automatically breaks it into trackable sections. Teachers log progress kitab by kitab, section by section, page by page, and that progress is reflected live in the student and parent portal.

Where Labbaik wins

• Transparent pricing. Safar is free indefinitely. Paid tiers are listed publicly on our pricing page — no "contact us for a quote" and no surprise invoices. Raziil's pricing requires a sales conversation before you know what you'll pay.
• Full WhatsApp integration, including payments. Fee reminders, attendance alerts, absence notifications and two-way messaging all run through WhatsApp — the channel parents and students actually open. That extends to payments specifically: parents get a WhatsApp message when a new payment or subscription is set up, and another if a charge fails, with smart retries running automatically in the background. We found no published WhatsApp integration for payment setup or failure alerts in Raziil. Email open rates sit around 20%; WhatsApp is closer to 98%.
• Modern, mobile-first UX. A 2026 interface designed for the phone in a parent's hand on the school run, and for a teacher taking the register from the classroom floor.
• 10-minute self-serve onboarding. Sign up, import students from CSV, send your first WhatsApp broadcast — without booking a sales call.
• Kitab-level Alimiyyah tracking. Upload your own PDF syllabus and Labbaik breaks it into sections; teachers track progress page by page, visible live in the parent/student portal.
• Genuinely serves the whole masjid. Sadaqah/Zakat donations, ticketed community events, bookings and verifiable Nikah/Shahada certificates alongside the maktab, not just a bundled subdomain website.
• Compliance task reminders. Recurring admin tasks — insurance/utility renewals, servicing, DBS, fire safety, Charity Commission deadlines — with WhatsApp alerts before they're overdue.
• Online classes with OAuth-connected Zoom, Drive & Dropbox. Start a live class on Zoom and Labbaik automatically alerts enrolled students by WhatsApp and email the moment it begins. Students and parents join straight from the portal, with attendance marked present automatically — no register needed. Recordings publish from your own Google Drive or Dropbox so anyone who missed the session can catch up, and Labbaik only ever sees the specific files your organisation publishes, never your whole Drive or Dropbox. We found no equivalent in Raziil.
• Public page, SDK and API for any website. No site? Get a hosted educational page with class times, registration form and parent portal. Already have a site? Embed the Labbaik SDK card or call the public API to push live student counts, announcements with images and add-to-calendar links straight into your existing pages.

Pricing — side by side

Labbaik publishes pricing openly: Safar is free forever, with a platform fee from 1.5% on payments processed through Stripe. If a madrasah collects nothing in a month, it pays Labbaik nothing. No per-student fees, no setup charge, no annual contract.

Raziil does not publish pricing publicly. To find out what your madrasah will pay, you need to contact their team. For committees comparing options, that lack of transparency is a real friction point.

Which should you pick?

Choose Raziil if you want an established UK platform with a bundled public masjid subdomain site and you're comfortable with a more traditional, admin-first interface.

Choose Labbaik if you want transparent pricing, a free plan you can keep using, a modern mobile-first parent experience and WhatsApp messaging built in from day one. Safar takes about ten minutes to set up and costs nothing to trial properly.

The basics — attendance, Hifz, fees — both platforms handle. The real question is which experience your parents and teachers will prefer week after week, and whether you want to see the price before you commit.
